Luxury Cars That Start With M

There aren’t as many luxury car brands that start with the letter M as one may think. Through the years the list has been a bit longer than it currently is, but many of those auto manufacturers are no longer in existence.

This article will list the luxury vehicles that are currently being produced that start with the letter M, with the exception of one honorable mention that is no longer in business.

Luxury Cars That Start With M

Maserati, Mercedes, and Maybach are the only manufacturers of luxury vehicles that start with the letter M. While the auto manufacturer McLaren starts with the letter M, they are a manufacturer of supercars, not luxury cars.

Mercury

Mercury was an entry-level American car manufacturer that was a division of Ford Motor Company.

The Mercury brand got its start in 1938 and manufactured vehicles until 2011 when Ford announced the discontinuation of the Mercury line.

During the time that Mercury manufactured vehicles, they were most known for their larger luxury sedans but also produced mid-size sedans and SUVs.

Merkur

Merkur was a brand of “luxury” vehicle marketed by the Lincoln-Mercury division of Ford which manufactured cars beginning in 1985.

This brand was an attempt to regain some of the market share that the American auto manufacturers lost to the foreign car manufacturers. While a noble effort, Merkur was not a very successful venture, and the production of Merkurs ended in 1989.

During their existence, Merkur manufactured their coupe, the XR4Ti, and their sedan the Scorpio. The XR4Ti was powered by either an inline 4-cylinder engine or a V-6 engine, while the Scorpio was powered by a 2.9L V-6.

Conclusion

In conclusion, there aren’t many luxury car brands that start with M that are still manufacturing vehicles. Maserati, Maybach, and Mercedes Benz are currently the only manufacturers of luxury cars that have names starting with the letter M.

While Mercury and Merkur were luxury brands that start with the letter M, they no longer manufacture vehicles.
